Vanakkam and New Year Greetings to each and every Employee and their family members.

We are stepping in to a New year 2019 with a sense of fulfilment and achievement made so far.

We are looking forward to welcome a new dawn heralding year 2019. As the new year ushers in, it brings with new hopes, new opportunities and new avenues for growth. No dream becomes a reality unless a happy resource base minds and hands of our employee join together to achieve a shared vision.

The involvement comes in only when we understand the vision of the Company i.e., "to emerge as leading Mining and Power Company" and identify our individual roles and our Department/Unit roles with the purposes. Then the vision of the company becomes vision of each one of us.

Our Company has great potential and also the desire to walk tall amidst the Indian Public with powering the Nation by means of Renewable and Non Renewable energy. The Projects spread over the Country are advancing by stages to reach the production arena as fast as possible. The support and assistance rendered by the Government of India and the State Governments where the Plants are progressing are worth mentioning.

It is my pride to inform that eventful year 2018 was passed with the addition of South Pachwara Coal Block (11 MTPA) to the already installed capacity 30.6 MTPA of lignite and 20 MTPA of coal from Talabira II & III Coal block.

In the short period sofar, apart from increasing the Mining capacity, Power Generating Project activities are also geared up for the commissioning of the biggest lignite based power project in India, 2x500 MW (NNTPP) in December 2018 we are getting closure to the commissioning of the project in next year.

Our NNTPP team along with teams of M/s. BHEL and other Contractors are making efforts day and night to complete the balance work which is appreciable.

On Renewable Energy Front, in addition to the earlier commissioned project of the 51 MW of Wind Power and141MW of Solar Power, 450 MW of Solar Project have been commissioned in various parts of Tamilnadu recently.

Erection activities have been augmented to commission the remaining 50 + 709 MW Solar power projects in Tamilnadu during the Financial Year 2018-19. Further, with a big bang of expansion on Renewable Energy front, NLCIL recently laid down the foundation for 20 MW Solar plant with 'Battery Storage System' in South Andaman. As per the contract, commissioning schedule shall be in March 2020 (17 months). However, based on the request of Andaman & Nicobar Union Territory Administration, expeditious action and close persuasion have been taken up with the main contractor M/s. L&T to complete 2.5 MW on 31.12.2018 in the shortest period of 2.5 months and all actions have been taken to commission the remaining capacity in the shortest period well ahead of the schedule.

These are the parts of Corporate Plan to make NLCIL a fuel sufficient 20000 MW+ by 2025.

Power surrender is impacting the overall performance of the Company. It becomes important that we are cost competitive to remain relevant and also to be profitable. Substantive catch up plan has to be executed to achieve the Excellent level in the current performance year (2018-19).

While we continue to strive for business excellence in the field of mining and power generation, our focus also will be to give our society on the sustainable development. NLC has launched a number of programmes to cater to the needs of the people in and around Neyveli, other areas in presence and larger society as CSR. NLCIL extended helping hand to the victims of Gaja cyclone with the contribution of Rs.6.79 Cr. which includes the oneday salary of our employees. Also, NLCIL deputed a team of employees to carry out relief operation and supply of relief materials in the affected areas.

We should always ensure that all our actions are carried out at common good. Commitment and discipline should be the corner stone of our work culture and I firmly believe that with a disciplined approach to work and life, we can achieve our goal, vision that we set for us.

The recent wage revision is one of the historic events in our Organisation which attracted appreciation from one and all as there was no IR issues. I am confident that with all your active support, we should be able to make and achieve the plans we set out to achieve.

I also request each one of you to follow safety norms scrupulously and adopt safe practices sincerely in all walks of life. We don't want a single drop of blood to smear the soil of NLCIL due to accident or unsafe act.

Recognizing of our best practices, recently CBIP award has been declared for NLCIL for best performing utility in Thermal Power Stations for outstanding contribution to the Nation by setting new bench mark in generation and maintenance practices, excellent in engineering and use of latest state of the technology and smart solution. Also Barsingsar Mines has won nine prizes in overall performance during the safety week celebrations.

Let us all resolve to take NLCIL to further heights with the same spirit and acquire new heights in enlightening the lives of the Nation.
