KUMAR ACHARYA, Chairman and Managing Director:
Dr. Sarat kumar Acharya assumed office as Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL) on 01-10-2015.
Dr. Acharya also holds the position of Chairman in two more companies - NLC Tamilnadu Power Limited (NTPL) and Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL).
He carries with him rich and varied experience of over 35 years of working in BHEL, NTPC, NTPC-SAIL Power Company and NLCIL. Prior to assumption of charge as CMD, Dr. Acharya served NLCIL as Director (Human Resource) from 16.12.2010 to 30.09.2015.
A recipient of many national and international awards and honours, Shri Acharya is one of the few inspirational corporate leaders , whose name finds place in the book 'Most Powerful HR Professionals of India' (4th Edition). He is a Fellow of NIPM and a lifetime achievement awardee by Greentech Foundation for promoting sustainable HR & CSR. In April 2016, he received the Scope Excellence Award from Hon’ble President of India. He has been conferred Fellowship by World Academy of Productivity Sciences for his significant and long lasting contributions to the improvement of productivity, quality of work life and quality of life. In recognition of his exceptional leadership skills, contribution to the field of HR and Nation’s progress, Shri Acharya has also been conferred with a Doctorate Degree by Sathyabama University, Tamilnadu and a D.Litt by Utkal University, Odisha.
Shri.Suresh Kumar, Part-time Official Director:
Shri.Suresh Kumar is a Post Graduate in Economics from the University of Manchester,
Post Graduate in Public Policy from TERI University, New Delhi and Post Graduate in Agriculture from IRAI,
Delhi and holding Post Graduate Diploma in Forestry. Shri.Suresh Kumar a member of
Indian Administrative Service, has held various important positions in Government of
Jammu and Kashmir and also with Government of India. Shri.Suresh Kumar is presently serving
as the Additional Secretary to Government of India , Ministry of Coal.
Shri.Vikram Kapur, Part-time Official Director:
Shri.Vikram Kapur, aged 51 years, is a Honors graduate in Physics and has done Post Graduation in Public Policy and Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, New York. Shri.Vikram Kapur, a member of Indian Administrative Service, has held various important positions in Government of Tamilnadu and also with Government of India. Shri.Vikram Kapur is presently serving as the Principal Secretary to Government of Tamilnadu, Energy Department.
KUMAR, DIRECTOR (Finance):
Shri.Rakesh Kumar, is a Commerce Graduate with
Master Degree in Business Administration in Finance. He joined
NLC in 2012. Prior to his joining in NLC, he has associated with
various important projects of BCPL and GAIL (a maharatna PSU)
like HVJ Pipeline project, CNG Projects, Revival of Dhabol Power
Project, Lignite and coal based thermal power projects,
Renewable energy projects benchmarking using WACC and leveraging
technology through ERP, E-procurement and E-banking,
mobilization of resources including equity, debt (domestic as
well as international market) etc. Presently he is heading the
Finance Department of NLC and introduced various systems for
effective control in Finance & Accounts, treasury and risk
management, budgetary and cost control, tax planning, Corporate
Governance etc. In recognition of his contribution made in the
financial management, he has been conferred with ACHIEVERS AND
LEADERS AWARD (FINANCE) and FINANCE LEADERSHIP AWARD. He has
also been conferred with BT Star PSU Excellence Award for his
outstanding contribution as Director (Finance) in PSUs of
Maharatna/Navratna category. He has extensively travelled abroad
including US, Europe and Japan.
DAS, DIRECTOR (Mines):
Shri.Subir Das, did his graduation in Mining from
Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad and holds First Class Mine
Managers Certificate. Shri.Subir Das started his career as an
Executive Trainee with Eastern Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary
of Coal India Limited (CIL) in the year 1980 and during the last
three and half decades, he had held various important positions
in many of the subsidiaries of CIL. Shri.Subir Das assumed
charge as Director (Mines) w.e.f.30.09.2014 and prior to his
joining, he was holding the position of General Manager in
Bharat Coaking Coal Limited, also a subsidiary of CIL.
Shri.Subir Das has vast experience in underground coal mining
and was involved in various projects of the Subsidiaries of CIL
and was also instrumental in many of its achievements.
V.THANGAPANDIAN, DIRECTOR (Power):
Shri.V.Thangapandian, is a Graduate in Mechanical
Engineering. Shri.V.Thangapandian started his career as an
Executive Trainee with NTPC in the year 1981 and during the last
three and half decades, he had held several key positions in
various projects of NTPC. Shri.V.Thangapandian assumed charge as
Director (Power) w.e.f.01.09.2015 and prior to his joining, he
was holding the position of Head of Project at NTPC-Mouda (Nagpur).
Shri.V.Thangapandian has vast experience in the areas of
Planning, Erection, Commissioning and Operation & Maintenance of
power plants and was also instrumental in many of the
achievements in NTPC.
Shri. P. SELVAKUMAR,
DIRECTOR (Planning & Projects):
Shri. P.Selvakumar, is a
graduate in Mechanical Engineering and in Mining Engineering. He
holds post graduate degree in Thermal Power Engineering and
Master Degree in Business Administration in Finance. He holds
First Class Mines Managers Certificate. Shri. P.Selvakumar has
joined NLC in 1981 and held various important positions in the
Company. He had successfully implemented the Barsingsar Lignite
Mine Project in Rajasthan from concept to completion stage
without any time or cost overrun. This Mine is the feed-head for
the Thermal Power Plant there. He has also served as Unit Head
of one of the 3 Mines in Neyveli, named Mine-IA and during his
tenure, Mine-IA has achieved the Excellent Level Target in all
the years. Simultaneously, he has served as Project In-charge
for Re-Structuring Mine-I & Mine-IA and monitored all the
activities of the project and ensured the commencement of work
as per the time schedule. Shri. P.Selvakumar assumed charge as
Director (Planning & Projects) w.e.f. 01.01.2016 and prior
to becoming Director(Planning & Projects), he was holding
the position as Chief General Manager in Projects and Business
Development Department. Shri.P.Selvakumar has vast experience in
the fields of Mine planning, Mine operation, Projects planning
and implementation. He has visited various countries including
Germany, Canada and United States to attend Technical Seminars
and Industrial Exhibitions.
Shri. R. VIKRAMAN ,
DIRECTOR (Human Resource):
Shri R. Vikraman, Chief General Manager / Human Resource, assumed charge as the new Director (Human Resource) of NLC India Ltd.on 09-12-2016. The unique status of being bracketed with the Top-echelons of prestigious Central Public Sector Organisations is the reward to Vikraman’s relentless pursuit of excellence in his areas of performance for over thirty years.
He is a Mechanical Engineer (B.E) from the prestigious Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi (ACCE&T) and holds Post Graduate Degree in Business Administration (M.B.A) with University Second Rank.
Joining NLC as Graduate Engineer Trainee, he was involved in the successful construction, commissioning and operation of Thermal Power Station-II- Stage-II (4x210 MW) project without time and cost overrun. After switching over his line of service from Engineering to Management, he had been at the helm of affairs of Corporate HR Department for over ten years, bringing in a number of innovations. After the Corporate assignment, he took over as the Head of the HR Departments of NLC’s Mine-II & Mine-II Expansion and Thermal Power Station-II, before becoming the “Group Head of HR” of all Thermal Units.
He has excelled in every challenging assignment entrusted and his significant contribution in HR include efficient crisis management, ensuring no production loss despite man-days loss, disciplining the units he served and ensuring smooth and cordial Industrial climate.
Vikraman had attended a number of training programmes on technical and management subjects in India and “Advanced Technology Management” programme in UK and Germany. He has visited a number of foreign countries viz. Singapore, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Germany and France.
He is a Life Member of National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) and is presently the Hon. Secretary of NIPM, Neyveli Chapter. His contribution in conducting various Workshops and Seminars under the aegis of NLC & NIPM is noteworthy.
Shri. Azad Singh Toor,
Non-official Part-time Director(Independent Director):
Shri Azad Singh Toor is a Graduate in Economics, Political Science and English. He was a member of Indian Foreign Service. Shri Toor has served in various positions in Indian Missions abroad including the post of Ambassador. He has also held various assignments in the Ministry of External Affairs at the headquarters in New Delhi.
Shri. Chandra Prakash
Singh, Non-official Part-time Director(Independent Director):
Shri.Chandra Prakash Singh , a
Post Graduate in Political Science, was a Member of Indian
Administrative Service and had held various positions in
Government of Tamilnadu and also in Government of
India.Shri.Chandra Prakash Singh retired as Additional Chief
Secretary to Government of Tamilnadu. Shri. Chandra Prakash
Singh has assumed charge as Non-official Part-time
Shri. K. Madhavan
Nair, Non-official Part-time Director(Independent Director):
Shri.K.Madhavan Nair, a Post
Graduate in Economics, joined Indian Revenue Service in 1975
after a stint in teaching and worked in the Income-tax
Department and Enforcement Directorate. Functioned in the
Investigation, Training and Field Assignments at various
locations in India, Shri.K.Madhavan Nair retired as Member,
Central Board of Direct Taxes in the year 2012 after holding the
portfolios of Investigation and Legislation which involved the
preparation of Direct Taxes part of the Union Budget.
Shri.K.Madhavan Nair was also Vice-Chairman of the Committee on
black money set up by the Finance Minister and later functioned
as Income-tax Ombudsman at Kochi, Kerala State. Shri. K.
Madhavan Nair has assumed charge as Non-official Part-time
Smt. Nalini Padmanabhan, Independent Director:
Smt. Nalini Padmanabhan is a practicing Chartered Accountant who is in practice from the year 1985 and has rich professional experience spanning to 3 decades. She is a senior partner in B.Thiagarajan & Co, Chartered Accountants, Chennai. B.Thiagarajan & Co, Chartered Accountants, is a firm having 12 partners and has been in practice for 4 decades. Ms.Nalini Padmanabhan specializes in system audit and business consultancy areas.
Ms.Nalini Padmanabhan handles assignments in IT, Textiles, Jewellery, Educational Institutions, Engineering and Banking. She has served in State Bank of India, Chennai Local Board for a periodof 3 years (2003 to 2006) as Director, appointed by Government of India.
Ms.Nalini Padmanabhan serves as a managing committee member of Madras Management Association a premier Management Association of repute.
Ms.Nalini Padmanabhan is a founder member of Prerana Helpline Foundation that caters forthe need of people as a NGO outfit.
Ms.Nalini Padmanabhan has contributed articles in various seminars and conferences in the topics related to finance.
Ms.Nalini Padmanabhan has taken classes for Non-Finance Executives, CFO’s and senior executives of corporates in the areas of business development, personality improvement and finance for non-finance executives.
Ms.Nalini Padmanabhan is interested in social activities particularly in the areas of women’s upliftment programmes and gave counseling to many womenfolk from downtrodden, environments.
Ms. Monika Arora, Independent Director:
Ms. Monika Arora, aged 43 years did her graduation from Hindu College, Delhi University and Post Graduation including M.A.,M.Phil Law from Delhi University. Ms.Monika Arora, an Advocate practicing in the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and High Court of Delhi, has represented various Ministries of Government of India in various matters and presently, nominated as the Standing Counsel, Union of India (in Delhi High Court). Ms. Monika Arora is a recipient of many awards and scholarships for her contribution in the field of education.
Shri.Indrajit Pal, Independent Director:
Shri.Indrajit Pal is a Honors Graduate in Chemistry with a Post Graduation in Organic Chemistry both from Delhi University. Shri.Indrajit Pal also holds Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from Indian Institute of Public Administration and a M.Phil in Social Science from Punjab University. He was a Member of Indian Administrative Service (1977 batch, Andhra Pradesh Cadre) and had held various important positions in Government of Andhra Pradesh, Government of India, Public Sector Undertaking etc., before retiring as the Secretary to Government of India, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals in the year 2014.
