NATIONAL AWARDS FOR NLC THERMAL POWER STATIONS

 SHRI J. MAHIL SELVAN GM (TPS-I) OF NLC RECEIVING THE GOLD SHIELD FOR ITS OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE FOR THE YEAR 2003-04 FROM HIS EXCELLENCY DR. A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM, PRESIDENT OF INDIA. ALSO SEEN SRI S. JAYARAMAN CMD, NLC AND SRI R.N. SINGH DIRECTOR (POWER).

                   Thermal Power Station-I of NLC has been awarded Gold Shield for its outstanding performance for the year 2003-04 instituted by the Ministry of Power.  NLC’s Thermal Power Station-II has been awarded Silver Shield for its meritorious performance  during the year 2000-01.

                   Annual awards have been instituted by Ministry of Power, with a view to inculcate a competitive spirit and to motivate to achieve high level of performance among the power utilities, which includes Coal, Lignite, Gas and Nuclear Power Stations.  The evaluations are carried out by Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

                   In a function held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 24.8.04, His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has presented the Gold Shield Award to NLC in the august presence of Shri. P.M. Sayeed, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power.  The award was received by Shri. J. Mahil Selvan, GM/TPS-I.

                    Thermal Power Station-I which has achieved the highest production of 4400.13 Million Units of power during the year 2003-04 with a Plant Load Factor of 83.49% which is the highest for any year since inception among all the Thermal Stations of NLC.  This 40 year old Power Station has won the Silver Shield for the year 2002-03 for its meritorious performance and merit certificate for good performance for the year 2000-01 and 2001-02.

                    NLC’s Thermal Power Station-II has been awarded merit certificates for good performance for the year 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-04.

                    The Power Stations have also been awarded certificates of merit in recognition of the efforts taken towards the reduction in the secondary fuel oil consumption during the above years. 

                   The Silver Shield and merit certificates for Thermal Power Station-I&II were awarded to NLC by Shri. P.M. Sayeed, Hon’ble Union Minister for Power.  The awards were received by Shri. V. Sethuraman, CGM/Thermal and Shri. J. Mahil Selvan, GM/TPS-I in the presence of Shri. S. Jayaraman, CMD/NLC and Shri. R.N. Singh, Director (Power), NLC Ltd.
